McCarthy’s Law Animated: Passing the Test

This is my original first attempt at animating my comic strip.  I shortened this newer cut, but it still has a lot of the odd arm contortions and hard lines that I am only now just learning to manage.  It’s a learning experience and a side-gig at that.

I decided to tweak it and re-post it after reading this on the Valerie Strauss blog in the Washington Post.

Teaching vs. Coaching: McCarthy’s Law Animated

I’m not going to say where this very old argument recently appeared, but, suffice it to say, it did reappear.

The argument is a simple one: teachers, especially good ones, shouldn’t fear the results of standardized tests for the same reasons that coaches (especially good ones) shouldn’t fear the results of their work on the playing field.

This is all well-and-good except that leaves out a few key distinctions between coaching and teaching (at least, teaching in a public school).
